A private Egyptologist and a driver collect you anywhere in Cairo or Giza, walk you around the three pyramids, the Panorama and the Sphinx, and have you back by lunch. Pick it for the guides: 2,641 reviews average 4.9, and most of them name the guide.

Half-Day Giza Pyramids and Sphinx, Private Guide

About this experience

Misk Tours runs this as a private trip: one guide and one driver for your group, no strangers in the van. The guide messages you on WhatsApp the evening before, the car picks you up, and you spend about four hours on the plateau. The route takes in the Great Pyramid of Khufu, Khafre, Menkaure from the outside, the Panorama viewpoint where all nine pyramids line up, and the Sphinx from the terrace beside Khafre's Valley Temple.

Read the price carefully. The $30 from-price is the "Car + Guide Only" option: transport, the guide and bottled water. The plateau ticket costs 700 EGP (about $13) per foreign adult on top, card only at the gate, unless you book one of the higher options. Those are "Car + Guide + Entry Fees", the same plus a camel ride, the same plus camel and lunch, and an "All Incl & Grand Museum (GEM)" option that turns it into a full day. Going inside the Great Pyramid is extra on every option: 1,500 EGP (about $27), as the listing says. Our ticket price guide has the full table.

Two caveats from reviewers. The pace can be quick ("the tour guides go quickly so you have keep up", one July 2026 guest wrote) and there is a lot of walking in the heat. And the listing includes "Shopping (optional, can be skipped)": guests report a souvenir or papyrus stop on the way back. It is your tour, so say no in the car if you don't want it.

What guests say

★★★★★

Super informative and very convenient pick-up, drive to pyramids and return. Guide talked non stop and gave great background and history. Wouldn’t do this without a guide, you learn and see so much more!

★★★★★

We started early at 8:30 AM, which turned out to be a great call since it meant cooler temperatures and smaller crowds around the pyramids before the site got busy later in the day.

Bharath · Jul 2026
★★★★★

The guide will communicate with you the night before thru WhatsApp. And then the day off to let you know when the driver will come. [...] It was a perfect tour if you just have 1/2 a day!

In addition he managed the communication with the people like the camel guys or the souvenir shop according to the rule 'never show your money'. It was our decision to buy something at the souvenir shop. We never were pushed to go for a shop.

Tips before you book

  • Pick the earliest start you can face. The gate opens at 7 a.m. and the coaches arrive around 9.
  • Book the option with entry fees if you don't want to deal with the card-only ticket office. Bring a Visa or Mastercard either way, for the Great Pyramid ticket.
  • Decide about the Great Pyramid before the day. 1,500 EGP buys a hot, low climb to an empty chamber; read our interior guide first.
  • Have energy left? Ask the driver to drop you at a museum afterwards. The GEM is about 2 km from the plateau, and one reviewer's guide arranged a drop at the Royal Mummies Hall.
  • Avoid Friday: it is the Egyptian weekend and the busiest day on the plateau.
